Urgent fault triage
Decide what must be made safe first
An urgent appliance fault is one that threatens people, electrical or gas safety, food or commercial stock, property through water leakage, or essential operations. “Emergency” describes the risk; it does not guarantee an arrival time before our team confirms the address, equipment, route and technical scope.
At Appliance Repairs Kloof, we prioritise urgent requests for review according to electrical, gas, water, food, stock and business risk. We first help you identify what must be made safe.
Electrical danger
Stop using equipment that shocks, sparks, smokes, smells burnt, repeatedly trips protection or has water near electrical parts. Isolate it at a safe accessible point without touching wet or damaged components. Do not repeatedly reset the breaker.
Gas odour or unstable flame
Avoid flames, smoking and electrical switches. Ventilate if safe and isolate the gas only if you know the correct safe procedure. Arrange appropriately qualified assistance; do not use the appliance while waiting.
Active water leakage
Close the relevant safe water isolation point, protect floors and keep water away from electricity. Do not run repeated cycles to locate an internal leak. Record when the leak occurs and where it first becomes visible.
Refrigeration and stock risk
Keep doors closed, record temperatures and move high-risk food or commercial stock according to safe handling and business procedures. Do not treat a submitted form as permission to leave stock in unsafe conditions.
Mechanical and heat hazards
Stop washers or dryers with violent banging, grinding, a loose drum, overheating or burning lint odour. Do not operate ovens with damaged doors or exposed wiring. Allow hot equipment to cool without opening protective panels.
What to send for priority review
- Exact safety, food, water or business impact
- Appliance category, make and complete model
- Error, sound, smell, temperature or leakage sequence
- Actions already taken to make the area safe
- Complete address and access details
- On-site contact and authorised approver
- Photographs that can be taken without touching unsafe equipment
Priority review and repair process
Our team reviews whether the equipment is covered, whether a suitable technician and route are available, and whether parts or specialist requirements are likely. Diagnosis and quotation still precede parts replacement. Temporary recovery must be identified as temporary; protective devices must not be bypassed to restore operation.
